My Mother vs. Joker.

Hello, welcome to Humanities. We have a class called Stories and in stories, we have been talking about fiction and non-fictional characters. We also have been talking the Hero's Journey and the different steps within the Hero's Journey. Joseph Campbell was the creator of The Hero's Journey, so the Hero's Journey is basically about a hero and what different steps he took to make a journey. Those steps consist of 8 steps such as:
1. The Ordinary World
2. The Call
3. Meeting The Mentor
4. Crossing The Threshold
5. Trials
6. Rebirth
7. Reward
8. Return
For this last action project, we have to choose a fiction and real-life hero. By noticing the hero's journey for both fictional character and real-life character. I chose Joaquin Phoenix from the movie Joker (2019) for my fictional character and for the real-life character I chose my Mother (Ms. Muhammad). The reason why I chose Joker is that I feel as if his character has a great perspective on who he really wanted to be not only that but to show his story within the movie and himself personally. Himself does not consist of a "hero" because he's an anti-hero but the journey he went through was very intriguing to me. The reason why I chose my mother is that she is very talented to me, she has a perspective on things that I wouldn't think of sometimes and her journey of what she went through is very important to real-life situations. This project consists of a presentation of Joker's Hero Journey and my Mother (Ms. Muhammad) being interviewed by me with questions that consist of her life making into a hero's journey. So down below is my presentation, hope you like it. Enjoy.

Down below is my link! For my fiction character.

My Mother (Ms. Muhammad) Interview:
"The ordinary world is the same usually taking care of you and your brother and making sure we have stability.", my mom quoted.
1. The Call.
Q: Who were you before and after? So like you as a person or a mother?
A: Before I was a bit nervous at things didn’t really know how my life was going to go. after I start to relax when I when I had kids.
2. Meeting The Mentor
Q: Who was your mentor throughout your life? Like who taught you things?
A:  The mentor throughout my lifetime I will say my mom and my dad. my mom because when I was little I will always be with her and help her with her condition. she suffered from kidney failure. my dad who’s alive right now, he was the same and he always help me throughout times in my life. I really love my mother and my father.
3. The Unknown
Q: What things weren't usual for you? Such as physical conditions?
A: things I want usually I never got what other people had. I had to work my way to where I am now because I’ve many circumstances I faced.
4. Crossing The Threshold
Q: Where is one time you stepped out of the real-life and looked into something else? Like a different perspective?
A: is when I got in the altercation with a person and I completely lost it. Not much so as lost it but it wasn’t me.
5. Trials
Q:  What problems or consequences you faced during your life? Mental or physical aspects?
A: With different people I came to they weren’t so helpful in situations. some friends that I had wasnt prosperous to my accomplishments.
6. Rebirth
Q: Towards your trials, what made you come back from that?
A: From my trials, I learned not to depend on people that much. Work for my own and for my kids. Pretty much, hope for the better. My kids are a very substantial in my life and I treasure that.
7. Reward
Q: After that rebirth, what reward was given to you or you earned it?
A: To birth you guys lol, I am a woman of independence and many blessings I count as earned. All i earned was either for the better or worse.
8. Return
Q: How were you able to return back to your normal self from all the steps you did? If you didn't return what changed?
A: I didn’t return to my old self, instead I grew from that and changed. Yes, I do face issues in my life  and for my kids. I know I have to build that up financially and mentally for a better lifestyle for my children.

In conclusion to this project, in my perspective it was an amazing AP. I really enjoyed looking into different perspectives of the Hero’s Journey and how it can connect to being flexible. I feel like this project was very flexible in a way that moved my mind on how to accomplish things.
